This is a fly Rod for euronymphing. I listened to a podcast with Aaron Jasper and bought a book by George Daniel about this technique and wanted to give it a go. This rod is one of the perfect tools for this technique. The flex is perfect and in the perfect spot to detect strikes. It’s an amazing rod, but I’m going down to one rod now, since I only fish close to home since I had kids, and I fish a few brushy streams. Whatever reel you want to put on it doesn’t matter too much, because you won’t be hauling a lot of line out with euronymphing. You’ll want a reel with a little weight to balance out the length. I just used an orvis battenkill large arbor, that I’ll be posting soon. I always used ferrule wax when connecting, and I treat fly rods like sports cars. I baby them and am 100 percent careful. I probably used this rod 5 or 8 times. Euronymphing is a super effective way to fly fish. It’s just not the tactic I need for forested streams. I’m also including a coil of sighter that I made per Aaron Jasper’s recommendation, so you can get started right away. Good luck, and have a beautiful day!
