Greyhound - Basco - Large - Young - Male - Dog
Bosco, is a handsome 2 1/2 year old brindle male, whose racing career ended abruptly when he broke his hock in a collision with another dog. He is currently rehabbing and will be available in a few weeks. Bosco is already enjoying the perks of home living. FOSTER UPDATE: Basco is a beautiful brindle greyhound, with expressive eyes that come to his aid when he does something wrong. He is a sweet boy and still very much a puppy that gets extremely excited. He gets along well with my two greyhounds; however, he does tend to be pushy and wants to be first in everything. His education in manners continues. He is a handful and most likely not good for a home with small children, more because he is still learning, and, in his excitement, might accidentally knock over a small child.
He is very social and does very well at the dog park with other dogs, although he does tend to hang back initially from romping with the other dogs. He is learning to walk on the leash. At the outset, he will pull, but then he begins to settle down. He is learning the command ?leave it?.
Feeding time is hysterical. Although Basco is a greyhound, at feeding time, I think he is part Kangaroo, the way he jumps around. He knows his bowl and is good about not bothering the other two while they are eating. He does knock his bowl when he thinks its feeding time to let you know that he?s hungry.
Basco is an early riser, and won?t let us rest when he thinks its time to get up. He hears the first note of my music alarm and comes running in to be fed. We don't have a doggy door, but he will let you know when he needs to go out. My two dogs have trained him well.
Basco is a thief. He has taken my hair ties off the bathroom sink, sneaked food from the counter, and even food from my son?s plate. However, he learned these tricks from one of my greys, Tyler. When we eat at the dining room table, however, Basco will go lay down. I regret to say that he has taken and chewed my son's gym shoes and slippers, but only my son's shoes, not sure what is up with that.
He isn't much of a guard dog and doesn't bark when someone knocks on the door, but then again neither do my other two greyhounds. However, when he is out in our front yard, he does bark at other dogs and people walking by. Not sure how he will be with a cat, since we don't have one, but he does bark at the neighborhood cat.
