Grade - 20051 Chico - Medium - Adult - Male - Horse
It is time for Chico to find his new forever home! Chico was literally found as a 'stray' horse and no one ever came forward to claim him. He is about four years old, only about 14.2 to 14.4 hands so not a big boy. He is a handsome bald face, red roan and was a stud when he was taken into custody but was finally gelded a few weeks ago so he is settling down a bit where mares are concerned. He has a negative Coggins and all vaccinations are current. Chico is halter trained, wants to please and let the vet and farrier do their work, but other than that apparently has had no training - meaning he is NOT a rideable horse at this point! Chico also seems scared of men and prefers women. You will have to be an experienced horse owner/trainer to be considered for Chico. Chico is NOT at our shelter location but in a foster stable situation. This means you will have to set up an appointment with the shelter/foster to meet him. Other rules for adopting a horse from HSEC: You can fill out anadoption application by going to: /hsec_forms.htm then click on 'Adoption Application-Equine' under 'Adoption Forms.' Please submit the completed application via email to [email removed] or snail mail to: Humane Society of Elmore County, 255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL 36092 or fax to
(Voice phone is ). We?ll contact you to schedule a phone interview. If it appears that Chico would be a good match for you, we?ll happily schedule a convenient time for the two of you to meet. But before you fill out our application, please read the following: We will make every effort to match you with the animal you want to adopt, but here are some things we?ll ask you to agree to before the process can begin:
* You will not sell the animal for slaughter.
* You will not use it for breeding purposes.
* You will not use it for racing or rodeo.
* You will permit us to visit the facility where the animal will be maintained.
We promise to represent our animals honestly, based on what we know of their past circumstances, what we observe, and what we are able to accomplish while they are in our care. However, we can make no guarantees as to any animal?s future health or behavior. We will ask that you sign a waiver to that effect. We are available to provide assistance or advice about any animal you adopt. But please understand that, once ownership is transferred, the adoption is final. If you find yourself unable to provide appropriate care, we?ll be glad to discuss your options with you. Note that male animals, except for those that are medically unfit for the procedure, will be gelded (neutered) prior to adoption. Adoption fees range from $100 to $1,000. We are also considering adopting Chico through an auction processed of 'APPROVED' adopters after we receive and screen applications. Will let everyone know. Please fill out and send in the application on Chico if you are interested and capable of giving him the great home he deserves. May 2, 2013, 5:33 pm
