My story
1/06/22 Gracie Girl was surrendered to the shelter due to the previous owner being unable to care for their dogs any longer. Gracie is used to spending most of her time in a yard and would come inside and stay in a crate at night. According to the previous owner Gracie is gentle when playing, affectionate and shy, but friendly. The previous owner also stated that Gracie will get into the trash and dig outside when left unattended. Gracie will need a refresher course on house training in her new home as she has mostly lived outside her entire life. Gracie is said to do well with strangers and gets along with other dogs, but has never been around children, cats, small animals or livestock. As with all new introductions, they must be done carefully and in a controlled environment. Gracie is an Alaskan husky and will need ample amounts of exercise in her new home.
Gracie has an extensive medical history while in her previous home. She struggled to gain weight at times and can be a picky eater. During her stay at the shelter she was evaluated by the shelter veterinarian who suggested feeding a limited ingredient diet and observing her appetite and weight gain. It is possible she may have a food allergy. She has been eating natural balance canned food well in the shelter environment. Her new owners will be responsible for future vet visits concerning her diet. If Gracie sounds like the dog for you, please give the shelter a call to make an appointment to meet her!
