Gracie's story
Gracie is very low maintenance, couch potato, homebody kind of girl yet muscular and strong. She is a very loyal & loving dog that doesnt ask for much but some kindness and TREATS! Gracie has had a rough life, she was used for breeding and kept in a backyard when a rescuer convinced her owner to surrender her and all of her puppies were successfully adopted out. However Gracie remained with the person that called herself a rescue in an overcrowded home where dog fights would frequently break out over food that was scarce. Gracie was badly injured and a foster stepped in to provide her medical care & get her better. The foster described the scene to us when she picked her up as the rescuer bringing her out to the driveway and Gracie just collapsing, badly injured & malnourished. The foster believed the rescuers story and when Gracie was better returned her. Several months later the rescuer was seeking antibiotic medications, apparently trying to treat animals that were injured herself because she couldnt afford veterinary care. That is where Chi Town Rescue stepped in, we found Gracie being kept in the persons garage along with another injured female pit bull and we took them both to our vet where they were hospitalized. Gracie ended up being hospitalized for nearly 3 months. While she was hospitalized we were able to get AZ Humane & Phx PD to intervene and consfiscate the animals in that persons home many of which were found severely neglected, sick, malnourished and even deceased. Gracie was in a state of limbo as it was unclear whether she would be considered part of the case... Well- as you can see, Gracie ended up becoming a Chi Town dog. We are not set up to house big dogs and she had to spend some time in boarding until we could manage a kennel space large enough for her. Gracie is happy with us now however she deserves better, a FOREVER home where she will be loved and protected from harm always and to not live her life out in a kennel/shelter environment. Will you give Gracie a chance at a new life?
