Golden
This girl is the sweetest babe. She loves to lay on the couch and cuddle with you. She is a little shy when you first meet her but quickly will become your best friend. Once she trust you she will want to hang out with you wherever you go. She will often look up at you with the sweetest expression of love that just melts your heart. In the short time we have had her we have watched her open up and really start to grow into her personality. She is a playful love bug. Whoever adopts her is adopting their next best friend and will get the joy of seeing her blossom and grow even more. With love, patience and training she is going to be the a well behaved, loyal and loving pup.
Small Children - I would potentially recommend she go to a house with older children. When we went to the food truck rally there were children around. She was quite nervous, I think because kids tend to move quick and suddenly and that startles her. Also one little girl was twirling around her dress a little ways away from us and she let out a quick low soft growl and stood behind us. She didn't do anything else but we also moved a few more steps away which seemed to make her more comfortable once the little kid was further away.
Triggers - She does not like loud noises. If we crimple a bag or we are outside and a loud car drives by she'll get startled and try to get close to you with her tail between her legs. She doesn't like quick unexpected movement, she tends to wince and move away if you move to fast around her. Also if you lift your leg to step over something close to her she winces and moves away. I would assume there may have been some abuse or yelling around her when she was young. She is getting better understanding noises or swift movement is not bad but may need a little time to move past where she winces a little when they happen.
Outside the house - She is nervous on car rides but is getting better. We have done a few car rides to do fun things like get pup cups and stuff so she knows a car ride is not bad. She does well around other people however she does get overwhelmed after a little while. We went to a food truck rally where there was about 15 other people walking around. After about an hour she seemed tired and was ready to go home.
Potty training - She is doing pretty good. She will pace and go to the door when she needs to go. We have had a few accidents however for the most part she is going potty outside. She has not had any accidents during the night.
Food - She eats best when she can see the other dogs eating otherwise she is worried and tries to go to them. She doesn't try to get the other dogs food even when they are done and walk away, she understands that it is their food and not hers. She is more of a snacker throughout the day and then will eat a full serving for dinner. We don't leave food out all the time however I will put it down through the day and she'll snack a little then be done.
Toys - She likes toys but enjoys playing with the other animals more. She likes to play fetch but is still getting the hang of it. She also likes a few of the soft toys with squeakers we have.
Play - It took her a little bit to understand playing with our dogs but once she observed a little she jumped right in. If they don't want to play she will grab a toy and play by herself. Soemtimes we do have to redirect her because she is trying to play when our dogs are not interested and won't leave alone. However she is easy to redirect.
Commands - She is still learning but does sit pretty good. She is starting to understand stay.
Kennel - She goes in the kennel when needed however she does cry for a bit when in there. She doesn't particularly like sleeping in the kennel and prefers to sleep with Addison and the other dogs.
Leash - She does great on the leash. She walks best when walking with our other dogs however she also does pretty good on her own. She sometimes will run behind you and get twisted up in the leash so we are working on not running around the back.
Dogs/Cats - She loves other dogs and gets along great with them. She adapted very quickly to our other dogs and gets along great with them. She mirrors their behaviors and tries to do what they do. She also likes the cats. They are still a little new to her however she let's them sniff her and will sniff them or follow them around. She does not chase them and is quick to move on if they don't want her attention.
She is treat motivated however she also is motivated by positive reinforcement.
She is sensitive about having her paws touched. We have been working on casually touching her paws so that she gets more comfortable however she is quick to move her paw away when she is done. Her paws are quite dry and we have been trying to put a little paw wax on them when she let's us.
She may have a little bit of separation anxiety. If we go into another room or out of sight she will whine a little and wait at the stairs or the door until you come back.
Sweet Golden have birth to 4 healthy puppies on 3/15/23. All of her sweet pups have been adopted to wonderful homes and now it is her turn!

All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Golden, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
