My story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and unwanted! Gizmo, at only 11 weeks old and about 3 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 7 - 10 lbs), was a victim of circumstance through no fault of his own. Gizmo and his brother were found abandoned on a front lawn in a tiny rusted cage on a freezing New Mexico morning. Luck was with this tiny pair on that day...the lawn they were abandoned on happened to be that of a compassionate animal rescuer. The twosome were immediately rushed inside and made warm with nutrition and pure love. Our rescuers were very pleased to find that these tiny Chiweenies were healthy, cuddly and already engaging and friendly. They made the collective decision that they wanted these tiny babies to receive a transport ticket to Farfel's Rescue in Colorado to begin their lives with a responsible family that will love them like crazy in a forever kind of way. Gizmo is incredibly beautiful...with a coat the shiniest of black and brown and the purest of white. His hair is cottony-soft and you just want to pet him and tell him how beautiful he is. Gizmo will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for excellent general health and to keep his coat silky-soft and very healthy. Since Gizmo is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his people (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through the love of an excellent family. Farfel's feels that it's very important for these great families to attend positive reinforcement/force-free puppy socialization class followed by level 1 group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a truly bonded dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel so strongly about every puppy being given this training opportunity that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force- free trainers in your area. We're very open to Gizmo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. Gizmo loves children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. We aren't open to Gizmo being left alone for long hours while his family works full-time outside of the home. He's a sensitive puppy that thrives on the companionship of this people...therefore retirees, those who work from home, part-time or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for this very loving best friend. Gizmo will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. He's currently too young to be neutered...when he gets a bit older, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Gizmo's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.Gizmo will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 1/4/20. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Gizmo, please be sure to fill out the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. It's the only initial tool that provides the information necessary to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
