My story

　　10/20/21 Gilbert was returned to the shelter because his previous owner felt they did not have enough time to train him. He was said to be quite nippy in his previous home and would highly benefit from some obedience training. He was said to be aggressive towards dogs initially but does ok after a slow introduction. Please take extreme caution if you plan on introducing him to other animals. Gilbert is housebroken and does know a few basic commands such as sit and come. He still has some naughty tendencies such as getting into trash and jumping on people. He is also a chewer and would love appropriate objects to chew on. If you are interested in meeting this boy please give the shelter a call! 10/05/21 Gilbert was returned to the shelter after a brief adoption because the introduction to the other dog in the home did not go well. Gilbert's previous owners stated that he was very hostile towards their shih tzu. Because of this reaction, we are emphasizing that his new owners use extreme caution when introducing Gilbert to new dogs and recommend a home either with no other dogs or with bigger, calm dogs. Gilbert has also started to show some naughty behaviors such as being mouthy, so he could definitely benefit from an obedience class! If you are interested in meeting Gilbert, please give the shelter a call!09/30/21 This handsome boy is Gilbert! Gilbert came in as a stray so little is known about him. Here at the shelter he has been a very happy and friendly boy towards his animal tenders. We do not know how Gilbert does with other animals such as dogs, cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Please be cautious when introducing him to new animal friends! Gilbert has appeared friendly towards his doggy neighbors but slow, safe, and controlled introductions are key! Gilbert has a healthy appetite here at the shelter and appears very food motivated (which should help with training)! We advise taking Gilbert to a basic obedience class to learn what commands he might already know and to teach him a few new ones! Gilbert has had a few accidents in his kennel over night so he may need some continued work on potty training or a nice long walk before bed time.
