The XR-1 was the predecessor to the Studio design that started around 83 or 84? They are really high quality as the majority of guitars were from this time duration and that's why they are still around and still working well! This guitar is no exception. It's in excellent shape for its age and all electronic devices work much like the day it was built. It is all original (from what I can tell) although I have never taken the pick-ups out. The only issue I have actually seen is that the bone nut is worn from age and it does not such as thin strings which is why I have a piece of tape on the 1st string (see photo). I such as thinner strings and presently have actually 9's installed, however if you put 10's or thicker, it's not a problem. Could make use of a new but however. These guitars are becoming collectible and unusual. Comes in Gibson USA hardcase envisioned.
