Here for sale is a mid-1950’s Getzen Super Deluxe Tone Balanced cornet in Bb. This was my father’s when he was in school and became mine when I was a kid. It’s been idle since about 1979 until a few years when I pulled it out and started playing again for a short period. At that time, I took it to a music shop and had the horn professionally cleaned. They also made new valve springs, and new corks on the drain valves. The bell was wrinkled, and they repaired that also. The valves are smooth and fast, the slides fit firmly and operate smoothly. I have the original mouthpiece along with two Bach mouthpieces a 3C& a 5C. Original music holder for marching band is also there. The third valve has a mismatched valve button. The horn is two tone brass and copper. The clear coat has worn off in many spots and gives this horn a great patina for someone in New Orleans street band. Getzen horns were widely known for their great sound and this cornet has it. The original case has plenty of wear but is still very solid and has no funky odors; springs on the latches are broken. Also included is a fold away horn stand that stores in the bell while in the case. This horn is ready to play for next Saturday’s gig and should be yours! Please email with any questions
