GERTRUDE's story
Notes from Gertrude`s day trip!
`We started off with a nice walk at the park to get used to each other and to give Gertrude some exercise. She is good on the leash, and though she does a bit of zig zagging (so much to see!), the only time she really pulled was when she found a really good smell and just was not ready to leave until it had been thoroughly sniffed. It was clear right away that Gertrude is a playful and fun girl who loves to give kisses.
Gertrude was great in the car and spent most of our drive time peeking her head between us to see where we were going. She likes being involved in whatever is going on and doesn`t want to miss anything. We planned on spending some time downtown, but quickly learned that as enthusiastic and happy as Gertrude is, the music that many of the restaurants play makes her nervous. To help her feel more at ease, we found a nice spot on the UA`s campus where Gertrude could relax in the shade.
She is definitely a curious girl and wanted to investigate food that had dropped on the ground or food that we were eating. Whoever is lucky enough to make Gertrude part of their family will need to be patient as she learns manners and boundaries, but we can confirm that she will be very food motivated and training should be a breeze! We had a great day with Gertrude. She made us feel so loved and special!`
