German Shepherd Dog - Nickelby - Large - Adult - Male - Dog
We received a phone call from the shelter asking us to help this poor dog. They said he had had been hit by a car, and had a broken leg and the shelter did not have a splint large enough to brace it! Since we could not bare to think of this dog suffering, laying on the shelter floor, we pooled our resources and got him straight to one of our vets. Poor Nickelby was picked up as a stray. Despite all his injuries, he is very gentle and sweet and was nothing short of appreciative to the volunteer who transported him from the shelter to our vet. Our vet says not only was he hit by a car, but at some point he was also attacked by another dog too. Nickelby's right rear leg has a fractured tibia, and both ears have injury from bites. The left ear has some staples on the backside. He also has other various scrapes and bumps. Our vet has informed us that due to the severity of the injury to Nickelby's leg, it could not be saved. The bone was shattered in so many places, it was not healing. This meant an amputation for this poor boy. Despite having three legs now, Nickelby is still active and eager to find his forever home. If you are interested in meeting him, please complete an online application and an adoption counselor will contact you.
