German Shepherd Dog - Donovan - Large - Young - Male - Dog
Donovan was hit by a car and lying in pain at the side of the freeway. No tags, collar or microhip. He was struck by a car and injured. GSROC heard of his plight from the shelter staff and rushed to his side. Donovan suffered some truly painful and traumatic injuries. He was 'degloved' which means his skin, fur and soft tissue were peeled back on his front legs, exposing the muscles, tendons and BONE. How he managed not to fracture both of his front legs is amazing. Due to the extent of his injuries, Donovan remained in the hospital for SIX weeks! A GSROC record and very, very costly. He needed regular dressing changes and wound irrigations. The vet staff worked very hard to combat infection in these wounds as they were very deep. Donovan has recovered from his injuries now and is ready for adoption. While waiting for his new home, Donovan is currently in training to enable him to develop into the fabulous dog he was destined to be. He is a very strong guy and will do best in an experienced home that enjoys german shepherds. If you would like to meet Donovan, please complete the online application and a counselor will contact you.
