Description

German Shepherd Dog - Cassius - Large - Adult - Male - Dog

Cassius is a handsome five year old boy who was found wandering in an elementary school playground with his buddy, Clay, and two other dogs. All the dogs were taken to a nearby shelter. Cassius was described as walking stiffly so unless he found a rescue that would save him, he would be euthanized. The same description was given to Clay so he too was on the list. Fortunately one of the shelter staff people took it upon herself to find a rescue group that would save both dogs. Enter, Team Rescue! When our volunteer met them at the kennel, they managed to make a break for freedom through their kennel gate and ran (yes, we said ran!) and played in an enclosed area adjacent to the kennels. There was no stiff gait to be seen as these guys romped together! Cassius loves his doggie friend but he also loves to get attention, pets, and love from people whom he meets. On the road to Rescue, he rode nicely in the car, looking out the window and wondering perhaps what his new life would bring. What his new life brought was an invitation to stay in a foster home with Clay. And three other German Shepherd Dogs! Here's what his foster mom has to say about him. Cassius is a peace maker. He'll walk into a wrestling match between the dogs in the foster home if he feels it is getting out of control. In a way, he's a quiet, gentle giant. He gets along with friendly, calm dogs and will engage in a simple play with them. He exhibits no food or toy aggression although he can get a bit jealous if you are giving attention to Clay rather than to him. Cassius is house broken and crate trained but he needs Clay next to him if he is crated. He can be independent if he is not crated and will free sleep even if Clay isn't in the room. Cassius isn't a morning dog. He sleeps through the night but he's slow to wake in the morning. Here's what his foster mom wrote. "He just needs your love and attention and he will be a great companion". Please visit / to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs to see further descriptions.
