German Shepherd Dog - Ajax - Large - Young - Male - Dog
Ajax has quite the story to tell. At a young age he endured horrific abuse resulting in the loss of his tail. A good samaritan called us and told us this dog was hanging in a neighborhood down the street from a school. He was sleeping on one family's porch, and several other homes fed him. They have noticed that someone mutilated his tail as well and it was bleeding. GSROC swooped in to help this poor boy. His tail required partial amputation and is now completely healed. We placed him in a foster home where he would feel safe. A private trainer worked with Ajax to overcome his fears. His fear of people is gone and we believe a calm, quiet home would be best for him. He is extremely obedient. He likes to come to his people and ask for reassurance. He is very gentle about it, it is as if he just needs a hug. All you ever have to do is say 'ah' and he stops what he's doing immediately. He's very good with small children, but if they get rough with him, he'll run. He's initially fearful of big dogs, so we
believe he's been beaten up by one in the past. He growls, but as soon as he realizes that they aren't going to hurt him, he warms right up and plays with them. He currently lives in a foster home with a very bossy little dog and does well. He's a very smart boy and LOVES to be petted and brushed. He'll roll flat on his back and lay for hours getting his tummy rubbed. If you are interested in meeting Ajax, please complete the online application and an adotpion counselor will contact you.
