German Violin-4/4 from late 1800’s early 1900sOne piece back!!Labeled “Jon. Bapt. Schweitzer Fecit at Forman Heironym Amati Pestini 1814”If your interested or have questions please message me!!These German copies had substantial antiquing when they were built. This copy has faux scroll graft as well as several faux cracks to make it appear old when it was built. One to note due to its position is on the scroll. This is not an open true crack. In addition to the faux cracks this old fiddle does have a few well repaired cracks. This is common on a fiddle that’s over 100 years old. One crack next to the saddle and a couple around the F holes.
These do not affect the playability or quality of sound of the instrument. This violin has a sweet but mature sound and is set up ready to play with new boxwood fittings and Pirastro Tonica strings. This fiddle would make an excellent gift for someone that wants to upgrade to a fiddle with over a century of true character and excellent tone.
