I have been growing datil for over six years from plants purchased at a datil farm in Saint Augustine Florida. I am so addicted to them and think you will to after you try this unique pepper. Such a distinctive flavor that you can taste that has been used in a recipe. So if you love hot peppers you owe it to yourself to eat ones that have flavor not just heat. A datil pepper is similar in its heat index to a Habanera, hitting at around 100,000 to 300,000 on the Scoville units --a scale used to measure the spiciness of peppers. But unlike habaneras, datil peppers are sweet, with a fruitful tangy taste to them. Datil peppers are used to make a variety of cooking condiments. There are datil hot sauces, jellies, mustards, relish, barbeque sauces. You are only limited by your imagination.
