French Bulldog - Ian - Small - Adult - Male - Dog
Hello World! My name is Ian and I am a 4-5 year old French Bulldog! I found my way into rescue via my 3rd owner (not counting my breeder in Hungary or the puppy broker who imported me for profit) who very tearfully surrendered me. You see, she loves me lots, but only wants what's best for me... and realized that her home just wasn't a good
'fit'. I wasn't getting along with her grandbaby, and was acting out in all sorts of naughty ways. I will probably always be distrustful of children and prefer that my forever home does not have them and they do not visit! I have only been in my Almost Home foster home for a short bit, but didn't waste any time settling in! I let my foster momma know I am ok with dogs outside of the house, but would be prefer to be an 'only' at home cuz I am kind of a greedy little frog dog! Sharing is certainly not one of my strongest attributes, though we are working really hard to change that! My foster momma calls it ?jealous hearted?, but this is all decreasing as my confidence increases! Another great way she has been building my confidence is with constant exposure to new dogs through walks and play groups for socialization, something I would LOVE to continue in my new home! Crate training has involved a lot of 'yodeling' when the door is closed, but I think I just realized having your own pad to keep your toys and chewies in isn?t half bad! With a little incentive I trot right in! The thought of being alone makes me really upset, but my foster mom is making me feel more secure, so I don?t get nearly as upset as I used to. I am house-trained, wouldn't dream of marking in the house, have some obedience training under my belt, and LOVE to go for walks! My foster mom says this is great because lots of exercise is key to me being a good dog! She says 'a tired dog is a good dog'! She also says 'consistency and patience... a lot of patience... is also key',
whatever that means!!!!! :P You may have noticed I have one ear that flops, which is due to an old hematoma. My foster mom thinks it gives me more character, if that is even possible! From Ian?s Foster Mom: Ian is a very intelligent little dog with a great personality! He has a deep desire to please, but needs guidance to learn how. He has been bounced from home to home, but I believe with consistency and continued training he will gain confidence in himself and the world around him ? in the short time he has been with me I have noticed his undesirable behaviors diminish as his confidence builds. He really would do best in a quieter home with an owner who is able to spend a lot of time with him. I really like the Nothing In Life Is Free training method and recommend his potential family continue it as he settles into his new life!
*Update 09/21/12- After much contemplation and debate, it was decided that our little frog dog would benefit from a low dose of doggie Prozac. Since beginning his new "script" Ian has been able to relax and enjoy life in a whole new light. We hope this is a temporary remedy, but for now, it was just what our little worry wort needed!
