Freckles Pigeon Adult - Adoption, Rescue
Freckles Pigeon Adult - Adoption, Rescue
Nov 17, 2024
Description

UPDATE: After three years of great devotion to his second wife Freddie, Freckles was once again widowed on 8/13/16. He is a very intense pigeon and does best when he and his mate can live together away from a flock. (You can read about Freckle's bravery /2015/10/21/love-is-strong/)

UPDATE: On 9/8/13, Friday, beloved by so many, experienced a seizure and died. Her necropsy showed a large granuloma of fungal disease filling an air sac and compressing organs. Her faithful mate Freckles was with her till the end. He has since remarried to a lovely King pigeon hen named Freddie. He is healthy and shows no signs of illness. They are available for adoption as a pair.

UPDATE: Through no fault of his own, Freckles & his mate Friday are once again in need of a forever home! Their adopter moved and decided that she couldn't keep her birds and so they came back to MickaCoo but where they really want to be is adopted and with a family of their own that they can trust and live their lives with. Freckles & Friday are easy going kings and get along well with their flock mates. Please- help save lives by providing FOREVER homes to pets in need. Thank you!

Hi -my name is Freckles and Elizabeth picked me up from the Peninsula Humane Society and brought me to my new foster mom's house Cheryl A's. Anyway, I've been having polyuria (excessive urine) but they really couldn't find anything wrong with me, so figured it was just because I had to share a room with a bunch of noisy parrots. Of course I'm a very sophisticated self-respecting bird and wouldn't resort to yelling, so now I'm in a nice quiet place with my own room and I'm starting to feel better.

Elizabeth says I'm an April Fool's baby because she said I was hatched around 4/1/10. For only a couple months old, I'm already very smart. When I want a bath I put my feet in my water bowl and stick my neck outside of the cage so my mom knows I'm needing a warm soak in the tub. Of course after that I perform a flap and fluff to dry off, then it's time for a nap - any civilized bird knows that. I seem to prefer

dove food to pigeon food, so I have a very refined palate but I reserve the right to change my mind later on. I'm also very curious and don't mind being held by my new mom. She named me Freckles because I'm not completely white, I have just a few specks of brown on various parts of my body. Well that's it for now. I would really like to stretch my wings and fly more, but there's just too much stuff where I'm living now to bump in to, and mom doesn't want me to get hurt. She says she's building me a new aviary especially for rescued pigeons, but that it will take time. Besides she wants to keep a close eye on me to make sure I'm completely over whatever upset my system.

  Until next time,

  FrecklesPlease apply to adopt /birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
