The fall weather is here and the big trout are already in the upper river. Good casters are finding multiple fish over 18 inches. These are thick full bodied, wild fish beautiful in color that have a lot of fight in them. The salmon are starting to move into the Redding area and the big fish are with them. The pics below are typical and NOT the exception. They were all caught on an loer Sac float just last week.
I offer full and half day trips in a comfortable 16' fully rigged drift boat. The scenery is beautiful (we see king salmon, bald eagles, river otters and osprey and more) and as the river drops to its late season flows the fishing will only get better.
6wt rods, floating lines drifting multiple nymphs (and egg patterns) under and indicator is the rule on this great tailwater fishery. It is a comfortable way to go and even beginners can get their picture taken with a wild beautiful rainbow trout.
