My story
Meet Dancing Finnegan. Some people may think he’s making biscuits, but when he’s excited, whether it be greeting his humans when they come home, getting treats, or getting to go outside, Finnegan will let you know he’s excited by the little jig he does with his front paws. Of course, he’s a tuxedo boy, so his paws are always dressed to impress. He is always donning two ankle socks in the front, and two crew socks in the back, with a delightfully long tail and large ears to top it off.
Behind his shy, dreamy expression, Finnegan is hiding a big personality, but he needs the help of the purrfect family to help bring it out. The ideal human companion(s) would be patient, loving people who would understand that Finnegan has had to go without what most house kitties get to enjoy every day. Finnegan is learning in his foster home that there are things made just for him! Toys, scratchers and cat towers, it’s possible he’s never seen these before, or at least it’s been a long time. It was slow going at first, but he’s getting the hang of all these new luxuries, extra sprinkles of catnip usually does the trick!
Another thing Finnegan is learning about is trust. Finnegan loves receiving pets, and obviously once had humans that he loved, but a lot has happened between now and then, and an unexpected hand or hovering figure is really scary, even if it’s just to give him some loving attention. But with patience and persistence, his trust gets stronger every day. Sudden movements and unexpected noises can also be really scary, but Finnegan is good at observing and learning. He watches what his foster mom does when a new noise happens in the house, and when he sees that there’s nothing to fear, he relaxes and goes back to rubbing against everything in sight and, of course, dancing. Finnegan may have had it rough for awhile, but now he doesn’t take anything for granted. He is loyal and will stay close to human’s side, keeping them company while they watch TV, work on the computer, or even when doing chores. All he asks in return is unconditional love, and never having to worry about being abandoned again. Some treats and some playtime outside so he can hop through the tall grass definitely helps too!
We think he is a year or two old. He has lived with other cats and will do fine with a nice cat friend. We don't know about dogs but he may be happy to share his home with a very mellow dog. He will need a safe place to go outside when he's bonded with his people.
