My story

　　Fern is a super playful and interactive kitten. She is always trying to do "sneak attacks" and is very mischievous. She loves playing with her cat toys, especially catnip and the noisy plastic balls. She is also super sweet and loves cuddles and kisses. She has a very loud purr box that doesn't have a "down volume", and she's super funny and cute. Fern was found in a dumpster in New York and was in terrible condition, but she is all better now and ready to find her forever home! She is absolutely beautiful and we suspect she is a Nebelung mix (long haired Russian Blue), but this is just a guess. She has a super thick, long coat and is an adorable ball of fluff. Fern has single kitten syndrome and we are guessing she was weaned too early and didn't have appropriate exposure to other cats during the important socialization stage. Because of this, she is extremely hyper around other kitties and they do not tolerate this at all. She needs to go to a home where she can be the only cat, OR we may consider a home that has a kitten of close age that has a similar hyper personality. Fern gets along great with our Shih Tzu, so we think she would be fine in a home with dogs. No young children - part of the "single kitten syndrome" behaviors is that she doesn't understand the right cues and can be overly playful (attacking your hand and biting, getting under your feet, etc.). She demands a lot of attention, and her new family needs to be patient with her as she hopefully grows out of these behaviors. Fern's adoption fee is on the high end as she has required a lot of vetting. She was in terrible condition with a bunch of health issues, but she has come a long way and is very healthy now!

　　Fern is spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and has received her first round of vaccines which includes rabies and FVRCP. Her next round of shots is due in several weeks. Her first vaccine appt was delayed and switched to her recent spay appt as she was very weak and sick when she arrived and we needed to build her immune system.

　　*Please do not apply to adopt just because of Fern's possible breed. Because she was a stray, not from a breeder, chances are extremely low that she is purebred. We are a rescue and our kitties are not adopted based on color, appearance and breed. It must be an overall fit for both you and the kitty, and we will be very particular about where she goes due to her personality and needs. Also, under NO circumstances will Fern (or any of our kitties) be a holiday gift. A meet-and-greet is a required adoption process step, and the entire family must be on board with the decision to adopt.
