FOSTER LOCATION: Twin Falls, ID
Sweet girl Butters is a 2 year old Blue Heeler/Aussie cross who lost her family when they lost their home. Being in a shelter environment caused her to shut down so Fuzzy Pawz placed her in one of their foster homes where she is thriving.
This girl is what we call a Velcro dog
she LOVES to hang out with her people and be with you no matter what you are doing. Butters seems overwhelmed by a lot of things but doesn't seem to have negative reactions to any of them; loud noises or using a fly swatter will send her slinking into the bedroom. Overall, she is sweet as sugar, loves to sit by you (or on you) and be pet. Loves to be talked to. She's reserved and quiet and seems to prefer a quiet home even though she is interested in children (the school playground near her foster home has too much activity for her but she wags her tail and steps forward to invite contact if one or two children approach and speak to her). She would do great in an adult only home or in a home with older children (12+) who understands that she needs some time to continue coming out of her shell. Her new family must love to snuggle; she'd be happy sitting in your lap all day long-- what a snuggler!
She's good with dogs, and did not react when tested with the shelter cat but does want to chase squirrels; so there is a possibility she would chase a cat in a home. She occasionally instigates play with the dogs in her foster home but only for a minute or two. She is low to medium energy.
Butters is not currently crate trained and we havent pushed it as she acts like someone tried training her a little too forcefully on it. She gets anxious when left in the yard with other dogs and no humans but hasn't been destructive or attempted to dig. Butters has great house manners and has not needed to be crated; she is house trained and not a chewer.
She knows her name and responds well to it, and she is learning to sit and lay down on command. She is potty trained. Butters is learning to be on a leash. At first, she was very apprehensive of the collar-leash setup but now she associates them with walking, which she does enjoy. No pulling on the leash, but she does walk like a pendulum behind you.
Butters is a pretty easy dog to have around. She'd be perfect for just about any level of dog owner experience except for her separation anxiety, which isn't bad just some whining. Butters would be a great addition to a family who is willing to continue with her socialization by taking her lots of places and including her in their lives.
Butters is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped
