F. E. Olds Recording Trumpet - June/July 1966 - 559,913 - Bore .460There is something special about the Olds Recording. The smooth and fast valves. The 2nd valve offset to the left. Considered by many to be a jazz horn, but it is good for any occasion. The Bell pipe and leadpipe are made of Rose Brass, or Re-O- Loy, as the Olds people called it. That material maybe responsible for the great projection and positive feedback the horn offers. This trumpet plays beautifully. The trumpet comes with a PRO TEC case. The two Olds mouthpieces are a 7C and a 3. I have played it in a local concert band for years and I had it professionally serviced by Osmun Music last year. They chem-cleaned it, re-aligned the valves, and replacing the cork and felt in the valves and also the spit valves. The chem cleaning process deteriorated the lacquer on the bell and leadpipe somewhat. The last four pictures show the following: a small indentation on the bell, another on the leadpipe near the valves and a slight nick on the curve of the bellpipe near the receiver. The last picture captures a spot of finish deterioration near the bell bead.
