Etta's story
This stunning tortie girl is Etta. She has the softest, silkiest fur that you will ever touch and beautiful amber eyes to compliment her coloring. Etta came to us when she was just a few months old; she was found in a barn without any siblings or mother to take care of her. Because she didn't have much interaction with people until she was a bit older, she's more timid and shy until she gets to know you. Socializing kittens at a young age is very important to getting them accustomed to human interaction and handling, so kitties who miss out on this until later in life may often be more skittish and cautious around people. Etta has started to come out of her shell over the past few months and now approaches me and lets me pet her, especially when food is involved. She is learning to trust me more and more each day, but I'm very careful not to force her to interact with me and make her feel uncomfortable. Instead, I let her come to me when she wants attention, and now she's starting to realize that petting can be a good thing! She is not aggressive by any means, she's just hesitant about approaching people until she builds a rapport with them and knows that she's safe. Etta is a chatty little lady and has a squeaky meow which she has no problem using when she wants food or treats (which work great for socializing shy kitties). She is quite playful too; she LOVES to chase feather sticks and will run off with them to hide her "prey". Etta is an easy foster in that she's very low-key, has great household manners, is quiet and is fine with being alone during the day. She's great with other cats once properly introduced and seeks comfort and companionship from them. Therefore a home with a confident and friendly/social kitty would be great for Etta as it will help her build confidence and trust with people. She may adjust to a cat-friendly, calm dog with a slow introduction. Due to Etta's timid and shy nature, she needs to be in a quiet home without children. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and negative for FeLV/FIV; DOB 5/21/17 (tag # 10682JB). We realize that because our sweet girl requires a special home; one with an owner/family who will give her plenty of time to adjust and doesn't mind a shy kitty who may never be super social or cuddly, it will be more difficult to adopt her out. Nonetheless, we are strong believers that every kitty deserves to be happy and well cared for in a loving home, even the shy ones. With time and patience, they can often make the most loyal and loving of companions!
