My story
Hello, I love you! I’m Enzo and I love everybody! I love my fellow cats, I love to play, I love to be loved! Most of all, I love to live! Yayyyyyyy!!!
Didn’t think I would, not after my owner dumped me outside the Friday Market. That’s the place where cats go in but they never come out. At least they don’t come out alive. Because they stuff cats in tiny cages with wire all around, nothing solid to sit or stand on. They don’t give anybody food or water, or even a place to go to the bathroom. They just hose down everyone’s rear ends at night. When one cat coughs or has runny poo, everybody catches it because no one is vaccinated. Everybody gets sick and dies there. And when somebody dies, their bodies are tossed in the garbage or left in the dirt. It’s so scary.
I know because I saw their bodies, all skin and bones, mouths open as if gasping for air, after my owner shoved me into that dusty nightmare and drove away. I just stood there and my fur stood on end. Was this going to be the end for me? I hid behind a broken bottle and drew in my paws. A huge skinny dog bared his teeth and trotted toward me, fast then faster. I pressed myself flat in the ground knowing it was hopeless.
Suddenly I heard footsteps. A lady made kissing noises at me and picked me up. The dog vanished. Next thing I knew, I was in the back seat of a car, with another cat, and glory glory we were saved! Humans don’t appreciate our singing, but I didn’t care. I sang the song of my people in the days that followed.
And now? I am soooooo happy to be alive! I love that I’m alive!
Ed. Note: Enzo is neutered, vaccinated, negative for fiv/felv, wormed, and microchipped. He is 2 1/2 year-oldBritish shorthair/fold with thick plush fur. He was adopted but it fell through.
