My story
SPECIAL NEEDS: (foster notes) Teeth are misaligned and some are missing. Vet tech seems to think it is caused by perhaps her having distemper as a pup. Seems to have substantial hearing loss-in fact doesn't hear most things. Every once in a while will cock her head like she hears something. She has a high pitched bark that is a little different from a regular dog's bark. She has a very long neck and she will whip it back and forth somewhat like a giraffe's when she's being carried and is upset. She possibility has other skeletal issues-her spine seems curved (bowed) and her hips are unusually narrow. As she gained some weight the hips don't look quite so narrow. She has substantial balance issues and falls over when excited or in a hurry. She has a problem with coprophagia-eats her own poop. She was very skinny when we got her so this may have been how she survived. It is getting better and may resolve when she can eat dry food on demand. Since we have other dogs in the house, we are unable to make food available at all times. When she gets frustrated, she will sometimes throw a temper tantrum and will bite; however, since her teeth are misaligned, she can't really get a good bite. It usually is over quickly and all is forgotten and forgiven. Emma sleeps with me and will cuddle in during the night.
All in all, Emma is a very sweet dog, but may need expensive medical needs as she ages.
