My story
Sweet little Emily. You have to hear the purr on this girl! She trills and chirps while she purrs, which she does a lot. Though shy at first, this kitty loves people and being pet. A stray kitty who’s been living outside for at least a few months, Emily is young. The vet guesses she’s 2 years old. She’s also really small, at 7 pounds. I’ve been feeding her and building a relationship with her, and Emily wants nothing more than to come inside and live with me. But the problem is, she doesn’t like other cats, especially my indoor/outdoor cat–so she has to stay outside. Day after day she sits outside my back door and asks to come inside with her little meow, and I can’t let her. It breaks my heart. She sleeps in the bushes under my bedroom window. During the work week, Emily comes in and out of my backyard office (a converted garage space) and hangs out with me. But she doesn’t want to be in there without me, so overnight and on the evenings and weekends, she is on her own. I even have an electronic cat door to give her exclusive access to my office, but I haven’t been able to get her to push the door open. Emily lives in fear of a neighbor cat who doesn’t like her and who attacks her every chance he gets. I want so much to get this girl to a safe, loving home. None of the shelters/fosters will take her, either because she is a stray or because she is a healthy stray or because she has been outside for so long. Emily knows how to use a litter box and enjoys being inside, but when she gets to her new home she will need to be indoors-only for a long period to successfully adjust to her new location. I’d love to find an experienced cat person who will be attentive and patient during her transition. I brought Emily to the vet twice, and she was a real champ. Everyone loves her and her adorable purring. She is now spayed, current on her vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, flea-free and in good health. Emily’s rehoming fee is $100, which will go to support Cat’s Cradle Rescue. Indoor home will get preference.
