Elvis is a two-and-one-half year old, eight pound Italian Greyhound / Chihuahua who is in need of a new home and a person with a lap to share. His current owner works from home and, since Elvis is accustomed to having someone around, an adoptive home with someone primarily home is requested. The other request is for a fenced yard.
Very sweet and loving, Elvis loves to be with his person (or people) and is definitely a lap dog
a lap is one of his preferred locations! He also enjoys snuggling under blankets, sitting on a heating pad, and being by the fireplace, with a fire going, of course. He loves visitors and is great with his owners grandchildren and neighborhood children. Although not exposed to cats, Elvis is living with another small dog and they play and snuggle together. When it comes to sharing his persons lap with the other dog, Elvis expresses his displeasure by growling, but does not do more than that. In addition to playing with the other resident dog, Elvis plays with other dogs at the dog park, although he will bark at them initially. Other instances when he will bark are
when someone comes to the door of his home, when he sees something outside, and, if in a parked car and free in the back seat, he will park at people going by.
Although mostly content to relax inside, Elvis does enjoy being in his backyard where he and his canine companion play chase and where Elvis also chases wildlife such as rabbits and birds. Walks are not taken regularly, but he does love them and walks without pulling. However, he does tend to run back and forth sniffing his surroundings (it would be possible to teach him to walk along with someone, while still giving him opportunities to engage in sniffing).
Elvis is housetrained to potty outside and is accident-free in his current home. He is also crate trained. For short car trips, Elvis travels nicely, but on longer trips, he will begin to whine if not being held (a stuffed Kong or similar item could be an option). He tends to be a picky eater, ignoring canned or dry dog food unless enticing tidbits are added to it.
