Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
NGPR does not adopt dogs to homes with children under 6 years old.
Previous dog experience is required, preferably large breed.
Female Great Pyrenees rarely cohabitate with other females successfully.
Our goal is for each adoption to be a permanent placement, therefore homes that already have a female dog are not eligible to adopt a female Pyr.
This adorable young girl is Elsa. Elsa is as sweet and affectionate as can be - she adores people, kids and other dogs and just wants to be your new best friend! She is such a happy girl, on the smaller side for a Pyrenees and she is bouncy and energetic and loves to run and play with all of her dog pals at her foster home, then settle in for some snuggle time with her people :) Poor Elsa came to rescue from a crappy place where she was chained day and night with no attention or affection. It is remarkable what a sweetheart she is despite her awful past. Her foster mom is the one who cut her off the metal chain, and Elsa crawled on top of her and wrapped her paws around her and did not let go...she really is the sweetest girl. Elsa was left out all winter in freezing temperatures and the people nearby were afraid she would freeze to death, so they got the owners to surrender her and notified our rescue helpers. Elsa has really taken to indoor living and she adores her foster family. She is a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky girl now and she deserves a great furever home of her own. We are so happy to have her safe in rescue and cant wait to see her get adopted by a lucky family!
