Note: Eliza and Jericho are made up names that these two pups dont respond to.
Eliza is black and white and Jericho is brown and white.
Here are the rumors. The two were pulled in together as strays in Rialto harassing other dogs. Eliza was aggressive to the staff at the shelter and scheduled to be put down on 3/18.
Heres our experience. Since fostering them both on 3/18 weve found these two to be high energy but extremely affectionate. Weve seen absolutely no signs of aggression to people at our home or on dog walks. We keep them separated from our other four huskies not because of bad behavior, but because it takes time for two packs of huskies to integrate. There are rivalries and dominance patterns that need to be managed diligently and since we are fostering these dogs, we feel we do not want to deal with dog arguments that could lead to veterinary bills.
We neutered both dogs on 3/21, while Eliza was going into heat. Because of this Jericho was probably possessive of Eliza which could have led to some aggression early in our fostering experience.
With each passing day all six of dogs have become more use to each other. While we do not yet let all the dogs mingle freely, they do peacefully interact through a chain link gate separating the two packs in two sections of our yard. All six dogs sleep with us, with Eliza and Jericho safely housed in a large crate while our four roam freely. There have been no arguments between the packs at bedtime.
We walk all six dogs together, with each of us taking three dogs. On our walks we mix and match Eliza and Jericho with various combinations of one to two of our four. The dogs generally get along on these walks.
Being young, Jericho and Eliza are very headstrong, and require a firm but loving hand. They have shown no signs of wanting to escape our yard. They play happily together, with Eliza being the slightly more dominant of the two. As with all huskies, they are not good with small animals of any kind, but they could probably be trained to be better with considerable time and effort.
They in good health, fully vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworm. We keep them on anti-heartworm medication, as well as Advantix, We do this for all of our dogs.
They are a loving pair of dogs and closely bonded possibly being brother and sister as they are both 10 months to one year old.
They must stay together.
