My story
Meet Eli!!This is absolutely one of the sweetest boys we have ever had in rescue!
Besides being beautiful and super soft, Eli is a doll who loves to be by your side, is super affectionate and very smart!
Eli is a 3 month old mix of Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd.
He was born on a farm in a town in Rich Grove, California.
Although the young woman who had the parents took pretty good care of he and his sister (who is also available for adoption) the area that they came from is pretty poor and they would have most likely wound up being outside yard dogs.
He and his sister Emmy, are in a private foster home with several other large and small dogs as well as cats.
They are already picking up housebreaking, however being puppies they are by no means entirely housebroken and that training must continue.
They love other dogs and already are in love with toys.
It is not necessary that they be adopted together but it would not pose a problem if they were.
It is expected that Eli will be over 60 pounds as he is already tall for his age and weighs nearly 20 pounds.
He will absolutely NOT be placed in an apartment or home without a yard.
First preference will also be given to active homes and especially one with another dog.
Large breed dog experience is necessary such as Shepherds, Rotties, Dobermans, Huskies etc.Eli's adoption fee includes the following:1. First set of vaccinations2. First deworming3. Grooming4. Flea and tick treatment5. Neuter (when he is old enough per the terms of our contract)6. Starter food7. Collar and leashAn adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. 6. Large breed experience7. Have you ever had to give up a pet8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Eli socialized with other dogsSome notes to consider before applying for Eli :1.. Eli is a 3 month old puppy and as such will require the time and commitment to become the best canine citizen he can be.
Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a puppy. He is doing well with housebreaking but accidents should be expected.2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email.
It slows down the process.5. Every dog is in a private foster home.
We do not allow random visits to come and see the dogs.
We have a
process starting with answering the questions listed above.
From there we move on to the phone screen and from there an in person meeting.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Eli, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
