Collectible guitar built by the great Edgar Monch in 1949 when he was in Ludwigsburg. This is a very lightweight instrument, with birdseye maple back and sides and a spruce top. It has been professionally restored, including several top cracks repaired with inlayed splines to maximize the sonic integrity of the top and one crack in the back and another in the side that have been glued, along with a small crack beside the fretboard in the top that has also been glued. It is structurally quite stable, though cosmetically challenged--see photos. One of the tuner buttons is a replacement that doesn't exactly match the other 5. It has been newly re-fretted. It plays very easily with great action--3.5mm on the bass, and 2.5 on the treble, nicely responsive. I would describe the sound as very clear and creamy. 50mm nut. 650mm scale. Zero fret. One piece back and original Landsdorfer tuners. Guitar is all French polished. Comes with hardshell case (may be original?) I'm not sure what the F.T. initials inlayed in the headstock refer to, though I would guess they may belong to the person who commissioned this instrument back in 1949(?)
