Beautifull 4/4 antique violin. It is unbranded; I do not see any label or a maker's mark identifying the violin. It is clearly a Maggini featuring the typical double purfling. It is also branded GRAND CONCERT on the back by the button area; this identifies the violin as an early model of the Conservatory brand out of Markneukirchen, Germany. It was made sometime in the early 1900s for export to the US. The violin has been fully restored professionally. There are a lot of scuffs and nicks testifying to the rich history of the instrument. Other than these, I do not see any old repairs. The original reddish varnish has been mostly preserved. The sound is rich and with excellent projection; it will get even better with new quality strings. The violin is in great ready to play condition. Dimensions are: overall 23 and 1/4", body 14" and width 8 and 1/8". The listing is only for the violin; no case or bow. Returns accepted; buyer pays return shipping. P.S. The somewhat plain appearance of this violin does not do justice to its sound qualities. My nephew is an expert player and he rated this one very highly.
