My story

　　Dusty is a sweet and loving hound who came to Delaware from a shelter in the South last summer. Not only was he homeless there, but he had been diagnosed with heartworms, a serious, mosquito-transmitted disease which is very expensive to treat. His previous owner didnt care enough to spend the few dollars per month it costs to keep a dog on heartworm preventative pills! Fortunately, Dusty must have had a guardian angel looking out for him, because a FSAC volunteer donated the funds so that a rescue group could bring Dusty to Delaware for heartworm treatment and to find a new home. Now he is totally healthy, but, he is still waiting for that promise of a forever home. Many folks walk by his kennel, just see a dark brown hound, barking for attention and they keep on walking. But if you spend a little time with Dusty outside of the stressful kennel environment, you will see his truly special, warm and wonderful personality! Unlike many hounds, whose primary focus is to follow their noses, Dustys attention goes immediately to the people around him! He likes nothing better than to get some ear and back rubs. Although he loves to run in the big play yard with his doggie friends, as soon as a person comes into the yard, hes there to greet you! He adores going for walks and, of course, getting in a few sniffs on the way because he is, after all, a hound! If your New Year resolution is to get more exercise, Dusty is your man! Dusty is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Ask to meet him today you could change 2 lives for the better and finally keep that promise of a forever home!
