　　The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer and need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

　　This teeny tiny little guy is Duffy, a very sweet and playful little teddy bear! Duffy is a tiny guy at barely 9 weeks old, and is solid black with fuzzy medium-length shaggy hair that might grow shorter as he gets a little older. Though he still has baby blues, we believe his eyes could change into yellow or orange eyes, possibly even a chartreuse green with yellow or gold peeking through. He's looking for a home without dogs. He is very small and fragile, and not suitable for small children; but we'd consider applications for families with older children, maybe 12 and up. At this age, they're very dependent on their caretakers to be gentle and calm with them and to keep them safe. They also need plenty of time with their families (and frequent supervision, not to be crated daily for a long period of time), so students or 9-to-5 families will not have enough time to spend with this little one - that is more suitable for kittens who are a little bit older. 　　Negative for FIV and FeLK and current on kitten vaccinations. The final set (consisting of Rabies and Feline Leukemia boosters) is due three weeks from the date of the previous set.

　　Since Duffy is too young to be neutered, an additional $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption to reinforce state law for all shelter animals to be fixed before or after adoption. The spay/neuter deposit is refunded later upon delivery of proof (a certificate or vet records) that the kitten has been fixed. Because of the assistance of the AL spay/neuter law, we are hesitant to adopt underage kittens out-of-state. Pediatric spaying/neutering is an option to discuss with your vet around 4 months of age.

　　Our flat adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read the descriptions thoroughly and note the specific personalities or special criteria we recommend (some are not good around kids, other cats, dogs, etc.). We cannot accept applications from minors or legal dependents. Read up on our adoption process .
