Domestic Short Hair - Black - Bates - Small - Senior - Male
The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other days. We're all-volunteer and not always available, so we need at least 2-3 days advance notice to schedule appointments.
To adopt, we need to receive an application (link to the online version found below). Some pets could be in foster care. For information on a specific animal, please visit our adoption center or email us at [email removed]!

Bates is a sleek black Siamese mix, aged 9 years, 10 months old (7/13). This guy cracks us up! He's the quirkiest of the quirky. Bates will meow at the top of his lungs to gain your attention. If you ignore him, he will follow you around and hop onto the nearest surface to hound you. Keep in mind that he will head-butt and even playfully nip to make you pay attention to him. By this time, he really wants you to pet him. Getting our attention is pretty much a game to him. Even when he walks away from us, Bates will casually stroll back towards us to tell us he isn't done with us yet. He's very forgiving - or forgetful! He's a very laid-back guy with quirky moments!
If Bates is able to settle in a new home with a new family, his trust can build up to where his initial shyness will quickly fade. Bates has never had a home, so he doesn't know what a family environment feels like outside our adoption center. He just might have too much competition at our adoption center to be able to form a bond with most volunteers. Bates will be perfect for someone who is looking for an independent and friendly guy! Bates has always been surrounded by other cats and does very well around them, but he has never seen a dog before. If you're interested in a very precocious and playful fella, please meet Bates at our cat adoption center!!
Negative for FIV/ FeLK, current on vaccinations and has been neutered.
Our adoption fee is $75, a fee to help offset vet and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read up on our adoption process . Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt this cat, submit an online application form.
