Dexter's story

　　Dexter is a little over 1 1/2 years old. Being in the shelter has caused him to be very reserved. He will need time to get comfortable with meeting new people in this strange new enviroment. His previous owner says that he is normallly a energetic guy who loves to play and also likes to snuggle. They also stated that he is good with other dogs and cats, but a meet and great is highly recommended. Being that he is extremely nervous he would be better with a family that has older kids that understand when Dexter feels overwhelmed and may need some space. Once he gains his confidence back and is comfortable, he will become his playful and cuddly self as he once was before. Dexter did come up mildly possitive for Ehrlichia which is a tick born disease. His new family will have to make sure that he stays on flea and tick preventative year round, for the rest of his life. Some dogs show now symptoms while others can begin to limp and become ache and would need to go to a vet to be on medications. If you have any questions or concerns about Ehrilichia you should consult your vet before adopting.
