　　  Meet Dexter!This very handsome, long hair teen was rescued from the streets when he was seem begging for food and his rescuer quickly realized that he was a young teen who was seeking attention and affectionate and receptive of being petted. He is not feral and obviously had exposure to humans as he enjoyed being petted, especially on his chin. We are still working with him on his little shyness and being a bit scared and trying to hide or run when approached, as he is very food oriented and still learning to trust sudden movements so a home with little children may not be the best for him. A home with other cats and a quiet/easy going environment would be best for him and an adopter who is willing to work with him as he loves attention, being petted (total baby) and enjoys playing with toys. A home with other people friendly cats would be amazing for him. We are not sure about dogs, but we wouldn't be surprised that with the right dog and proper introduction, he could do well with a cat friendly dog. We are open for foster to adopt trials for Dexter, especially with families who have children because he could benefit from the extra attention on him ONLY that he wouldn't receive at the adoption center. Families interested in this boy should know we are happy to offer foster to adopt trials as long as the families know they will need to make the time to work with him to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. Like all kittens, he would do best and be happier in a forever home with other cats in the home or an adopter looking to adopt a pair of feline friends. Dexter is residing at our Cat Adoption Center at the PetSmart in Clairemont 4253 Genesee ave 92117 and is READY to be adopted.... MEOW! Dexter was rescued along with Oliver who is probably 1-2 months younger than him, also a medium to long hair chocolate point Siamese who was separated from Dexter the first week of January. But, if someone is looking for long haired pair kitties those two friends can be reunited. For now, Dexter is starting to make friends with the rest of the adoption center kittens. NOTE:  Dexter can meet potential adopters right away.  However, he has a sterilization appointment on Tuesday, February 8th.  The adopter must be available that day to meet an ARWOB volunteer in the morning at approximately 9:30 am and also in the afternoon (at the Cat Adoption Center in PetSmart in Clairemont). The ARWOB volunteer will then transport Dexter to and from his surgery appointment.  The surgery is included in the adoption fee and NO CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING will be allowed.  The adopter will be given further instructions upon approval of their adoption application, but adopters must be available to drop off/pick up Dexter from an ARWOB volunteer on 2/8/22.  PLEASE CHECK YOUR CALENDAR!  Therefore, priority will be given to local area adopters.  If you live outside of the San Diego area and would like to adopt, you are welcome to check back to see if this rescue is still available after the surgery is completed (we do not put holds on any of our rescue animals).Adoption process: Submit a cat adoption application online at ARWOB.orgOnce received, an adoption counselor will contact you via phone or email within 1-4 days of submission to finalize processing your application. If approved to adopt a meet and greet will be scheduled at our adoption center at which time if the meet goes well and you choose to move forward with the adoption our kitties are ready to go home the same day.*Once you submit an adoption application online if the cat you select is no longer available or is not a match for you but you are interested in other cats there is NO need to resubmit an application, just request ARWOB transfers that application to another rescue cat you'd like to meet which we currently have available for adoption or if you see someone in the future you'd like to meet please contact the group and request to reactive your application. Notes for applicants:-We do NOT place holds on rescues, please, do not submit an application unless you are READY to adopt MEOW. -We require landlord approvals. if you rent, you should have written landlord approval before you apply to adopt a cat as we can't hold adoptions back or place hold on rescues. -If you are not contacted by a volunteer within 4 days of submitting an application, please contact ARWOB via email to follow up on your application status, we typically cancel applications if there is no communication from both parties within a week and assume applicants are no longer interested.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
