Vintage Suede Coat I can say this coat is vintage late 60s and worn very little. It was just to uppity for me and the places I frequented. The pockets do not have any lint in them and I always carried a tissue so that is also a sign it was worn very little.
There are slits on the sides that go up about 6 inches for easier walking. Pockets go straight across and the opening is about 5
inches. The tag sewn in the inner seams says size 10.
The collar is attached with large stitches put in by hand. One side is loose so I took a picture with it laid back so you can see the way the neckline is cut. This collar could easily be removed and placed on another coat. That collar alone might be worth the asking price.
There are four bound buttonholes and covered buttons. There is an extra bound button that I will include along with a pamphlet with hints how to care for leathers and suedes, a tag for size 9
10, and two sponges for leather and suede cleaning.
I will attempt to point out the flaws and there are pictures of them so you can scrutinize them.
A small v shaped cut on the left upper sleeve. The sleeve lining does not have a cut. This looks like it was snipped with scissors. Each side is just short of a 1/4 inch. This may be something that can be repaired from inside the sleeve, but I have no idea how. The largest spots are along the bottom of the left side. There is a small cut at the hem there also. There are some other smaller dark spots. The pamphlet I found in the pocket gives tips, but I did not attempt to do anything to clear them. There is some wear showing across the breast that shows as not being quite as smooth as the rest of the coat. possibly from a seat belt. If I were still a size 10, I would wear the coat exactly as it is.
The lining as you can see from the pictures does not show creases from sitting.
It has NOT been stored in mothballs or been in a house with smoke or pets. It has hung in the closet covered for protection.
All measurements in this listing are as close as I can determine but should be considered approximate.
Around the neck with it buttoned 16 inches.
Front of the neck to hemline 31
inches.
Shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve 22 inches.
Across the back shoulder to shoulder 14
inches and this could vary depending on how high or low the measurement is taken.
Across the breast shoulder to shoulder 16
inches and this could vary depending on how high or low the measurement is taken.
I live near Hollins College in the Hollins/Cloverdale/Roanoke, VA area in a smoke free, pet free home.
