Daniel's story
Daniel is more shy than his sister, Ruby, but does pretty well in laps. He will start to purr and play with you in your lap, especially if he is given tuna (or canned food) as a treat. It is helpful for him to have a top-loading crate open next to your lap, as he will occasionally retreat there (but while in there will purr, let you pet him, and play). He is more comfortable in an open crate next to your lap than on your lap at this point. In small open spaces (bathrooms, walk-in closets), he is still very scared of being approached and will back away and hiss. If you sit on the ground and offer tuna, he will eventually come up to you. From there, you can work on feeding him tuna kneeling, then standing, then moving, etc. He does better when other cats are around. In a living room, he will be out and about playing (even if people are in the room) as long as there are other cats to play with. He loved his foster mom's personal cat, but tended to cuddle them more than Ruby - he solicits social grooming and lays down next to them. Like Ruby, he purrs when other cats are near. Of the two, Daniel is the more quiet/shy/lap kitten. He has come a long way from the petrified kitten that would hide and completely freeze up when people were near, and would do whatever it took to escape people's arms. Daniel loves wand toys, toys with feathers on them, tuna and canned food; he is used to open litter boxes with clumping clay, water fountains (and regular bowls); he loves climbing cat trees; he has no experience with dogs. Daniel would do better in a home with another cat already present, or being adopted with another cat/kitten.
