Foster dog name: Dallas
Gender: Male
Age: about 6 years old
Size/Weight: ~40 lbs, but should be 45-50
Color: Tricolor
Breed: English Setter
Good with Children: Unknown. He would probably do well with older children because he is still a tad nervous
Good with Dogs: Dallas gets along with the three resident dogs and additional foster
Good with Cats: Unknown
House trained: Working on it. His neuter has helped tremendously with the marking and he no longer has accidents in his belly bands. He is asking to go out, too!
Crate trained: Working on it
so far he makes some noise initially, but settles down
Leash trained: Working on it
Behavior: For example, cuddler? independent? attentive? Dallas is both independent and attentive. He is aware of where his humans are and likes to be in the same room. He took an instant love to the man of the house. He will lie at our feet when we are watching tv. He has not shown any interest in getting on the furniture.
Activity Level: For example, Playful? Laid back?, etc. Dallas displays the traits of a dog used for hunting. He loves to run in the backyard, but when he gets inside he settles down. He is learning about toys, but has not really engaged in play with the other resident dogs.
Fence: Is a fence required for your foster to get enough activity or would leash walks only be sufficient?? Yes, fence is required. He loves to move and check out his surroundings in the backyard.
Medical History: Dallas has been neutered, he is current on vaccinations, on heartworm preventative, wears a Seresto collar for flea and tick, and will be microchipped. He is currently being treated for Lyme Disease with doxycycline
there should not be any residual effects.
Foster Comments: If you are looking for your dog, the one that looks for you and is excited to find you whether it has been 5 minutes or 3 hours, this just might be the boy for you! He is a sweet and affectionate boy
smart, too! Dallas was found by a good Samaritan as a stray. They started the vetting process and although they fell in love with him, thought it better for him to find a family of his own so they turned to breed rescue. Dallas is learning the whole housebreaking thing, and neutering has helped tremendously. He is a very good boy, who walked in the house not owning the place, but like he had always been here. He is curious, loves to run, and settle by your feet. Our favorite thing is to see his eyes light up and his tail wag 90 mph when he sees his human!
