Custom Apehanger Motorized Bike - $650 (Downtown Prescott)
Custom Apehanger Motorized Bike - $650 (Downtown Prescott)
Sep 21, 2024
Description

I am "Upgrading" from my motorized bike to a real motorcycle! I need the cash for the motorcycle.

I built this last summer (July 2010) and have ridden it very little. It IS Broken in, as it has 70 miles on the Odometer I installed. I built it with NO intention on selling it, and it is better than the average motorized bike in lots of ways.

It is a STEEL Huffy bike, which is a bit heavy, but I trust it much more than an aluminum bike. My buddy had an aluminum one that the axle nuts were gouging the frame....

It is FLAT BLACK, with 24 inch APEHANGER handle bars. They were not unstable at all, but you should be relatively tall (over 5'8" or so) to ride this safely. I absolutely LOVED the bars. My favorite way to ride is Standing Up, and not hunched over.

  It HAS:

  66 cc motor

Briggs and Stratton carburetor with adjustable mixture. I can provide an original carburetor, which needs a gasket set. It was working fine though.

  custom built air intake tube

baffles removed from muffler. I still have the baffle, and it could be put back in.

PORTED FUEL VALVE- These bikes are NOTORIOUS for fuel starvation, I fixed this by enlarging all of the passages in the valve. it still shuts off perfectly.

NAPA clear view fuel filter, flows better than original

TYGON Fuel line, will not rot off.

It has TWO drive sprockets on the rear wheel, including the stock 44 tooth gear and a 36 tooth gear from Spooky Tooth.

You can swap the chain between them Very easily by adding or removing a short piece of chain.

I built a Spring-tensioner for the chain, that works extremely well. The stock idler is a HUGE pain and is always loose. The spring tensioner is Always tight, and is firm enough that roll-starting is no problem

I DO have a Pull-starter for it, but the housing does not clear the left pedal. To install it "Properly" you would need an extra wide crank. However, it has the starting cog installed on the flywheel, (exposed) and I have never had a problem with it. You could put studs in the case and "temporarily" mount the pull starter, take it off, and slip on the stock cover, or leave it off like I did. The starter is re-wound with HIGH GRADE CHAINSAW ROPE, will NOT rip off.

It has a 7 speed deraileur on the pedal drive, and I put on an extra large crank sprocket from a mountain bike. This allows you to go REALLY FAST!!!!! I could help it go FASTER all the way up to 35 mph without breaking a sweat. If necessary, you can Manually drop the chain onto the smaller sprocket in the event that you run out of gas and have to pedal home or something.

Speedometer/Odometer (Made by the company that owned Harley Davidson, AMF)

Engine- powered LED headlight and LED tail lights under the seat.

  NEW "old-school motorcycle profile" tires

EXTRA THICK + SLIME inner tubes

AUTOMOTIVE MOLYBDENUM WHEEL BEARING GREASE in ALL bearings, guaranteed Not to start shrieking when the cheap Chinese grease dries up

2-Into-1 brake handle and caliper style brakes. They work good, but could be better. It would be a great candidate for a Direct-pull conversion

This bike is a HOOT and gets looks all over the place. It runs GREAT and goes fast. It has all the Good stuff, and is way better than stock. It has all the stuff you'll wind up wishing you had if you get another one.

I'm going to miss it Big Time, but I'm excited to step up to a real motorcycle.

I have WELL OVER $750 into this Bike, Plus a TON of work.

I feel it's well worth that money, but I need cash now, so it goes for $650 OBO!!!!

If you cant afford the $650, let me know what you can swing, and if I cant sell it, we can talk.

  Frank
