My story
In the market for a lifetime best friend and partner in crime? Look no further than Cujo! Don’t be fooled by his name - this 8 year old terrier mix has nothing but love to give.Cujo's owner died in New Mexico and he was left in the apartment for over a month with no human interaction other than a neighbor dropping food and water inside the door. When he was finally found by animal control, he was confused, alone, terrified, and had a huge mass under his armpit. Brighter Days worked hard to get him to CO as quickly as possible, where he had surgery to remove his mass. When he first arrived, he was extremely scared and did not want to leave his crate. It took some time (and a LOT of peanut butter) but he is starting to warm up and come out of his shell!Cujo loves attention in the form of pets and ear scratches - he will even beg for affection with his signature move of swiping his paws in the air! He knows quite a few commands, including sit, stay, paw, and “go to bed”. He is still working on potty training as he was in an environment where he wasn’t able to go out for so long. Although he has made a ton of progress in a short amount of time, he is still quite apprehensive about people and does not allow anyone to pick him up. A large part of this may be due to his poor eyesight - as he is an older dude, he is starting to form cataracts and his vision is limited. For this reason, a home with children under 12 would not be ideal for Cujo.Cujo may be quirky but he is truly an amazing little dude who was dealt an incredibly crummy hand in life. He just needs someone with unconditional love and patience. Cujo also gets along well with other dogs and cats.If you are interested in adopting Cujo, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com##1232488##
