**Courtesy post for Onelife Rescue and Rehabilitation - Harper and Archer's story

We know that Archer and Harper are meant to be together. Are they meant to be a part of your family too?

Archer is a 2-year-old male Shepard / Border Collie mix and Harper is a 1-year-old female Collie Mix. Archer was dumped at the Oklahoma City Shelter when he was only 10 weeks old. Someone or something had knocked out all his puppy teeth, broke both of his hips and left him blind in one eye in the process. While there is no way to know for sure what happened to Archer, the nature of his injuries suggested that humans were very bad to him. Amazingly, he still wagged his tail and wanted to play with people. OneLife Rescue and Rehabilitation rescued him, and volunteers supported him thru two major hip surgeries. He began to heal and made his way to Colorado. There, in the home of rescue vice president, Lindsie, he finished healing and began physical therapy. Over the next few months, he began to heal, physically and emotionally.

We tried one trial adoption and the family loved him. But unfortunately, the older small dogs in the home did not like his playful manner. He was adopted again by a single woman and while she traveled frequently for work, Archer got to come to stay with Lindsie and her family. Over the next year, his behavior changed, and we noticed that he was not as excited to return home with his owner. A behaviorists records indicated that his owner was spanking him and that he had become irritated and hyper. As we know, spanking an already abused dog is detrimental to his emotional stability. His owner then returned him, and he came to stay with Lindsie and her family again. His future was uncertain at this point. Archer was now nervous of new people, nervous on walks, uncertain with other dogs. We were not sure that he would tolerate another rehoming..but one day that all changed.

In June, another Collie Mix named Harper was returned to the rescue due to no fault of her own. Harper is an incredibly well rounded, friendly, happy dog. This sad situation turned into a positive the moment Archer and Harper met. They played for hours and immediately became best friends. An incredible thing began to happen. Harper and Archer became inseparable. Archer goes where Harper goes. Archer does what Harper does. Harper has become his emotional support..his confidence grew and his inner joy was released. Friendship and love healed their hearts and erased their feelings of abandonment.

Harper and Archer are available for adoption as a pair ONLY. They are meant to be together and are looking for their forever family.

Harper is spayed, microchipped and fully up to date on preventative veterinary care. She requires a quality grain free diet and daily exercise. She is fully housebroken, crate trained and extremely well-behaved.

Archer is also fully vetted and requires a quality grain free diet, a few nutritional supplements, and moderate daily exercise. He loves to chase his ball but isnt great at bringing it back. Archer is extremely smart and super happy. He is goofy, playful and always wears a smile. He loves walks but cant handle long hikes.

Archer and Harper would likely do best in a home with no small children. They could possibly do well in a family with older, very dog savvy children (13 and older). They would also likely to best in a home without cats.as barking and chasing are in Archers genes. We are looking for a family that will understand Archer and his emotional needs. A family that will understand that he responds better to soft encouragement than to harsh correction.

Archer and Harper are ready to join their forever family. Please share this post with your family and friends so that these sweet pups can find the loving family they deserve.
