Connie's story

　　Connie is an adorable little kitty and such a love bug! She's 6 years old, but still quite small. Connie loves everyone she meets - including other animals!

　　Connie is also FIV positive.The feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a retrovirus like the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Like HIV, FIV kills infection-fighting T-cells and weakens the immune system.

　　FIV is almost always transmitted through deep bite wounds. Mating and casual contact like snuggling doesnt spread the virus. Because of this, FIV cats can almost always live safely with Non-FIV cats. FIV is species-specific, which means that cats cant give humans FIV.

　　FIV-positive cats have been known to live 20 years or more with no symptoms of any severe disease. The only thing they might need that is different from other cats is prompt vet attention whenever they get sick.
