My story

　　Colonel is approximately 5-6 year old male Persian. The problem is that no one told Colonel he is a Persian. He is quite a feisty cat and probably cannot be trusted around children or certain dogs. He has no problem enforcing his wishes with a swipe of his claws and has been known to draw blood. You can't blame him for his murderous instincts, after all, he is a cat, albeit a Persian, and a distinguished Kentucky Colonel - a title of honor bestowed by a govenor who long ago recognized the Colonel for being a highly superior house panther.  Because one of the first things you need to know about the Colonel is that he deserves your highest honor and respect for all of his demands and wishes. Or else. As a Persian, Colonel will have special grooming needs along with his long list of cat demands. Amongst the top of the demand list is a quiet and comfortable bed located near a sun beam. He also enjoys following you around the house -- this is not to show affection but mostly to monitor for any fallen food. He is quite fond of his treats and needs to be hand-fed due to his extremely flat face and difficulty seeing what is in front of him or picking food off the ground. He will rub up against you, which may lead you to believe he wants to be pet, but again, this is just Colonel fooling the human enemy. The only way he will accept pets is wtih payment of a treat. His diet consists only of the highest quality wet food. While he will eat all forms of wet food, certain forms are more likely to end up stuck to his magnificant facial hair, so for grooming purposes, he recommends shredded chicken or turkey.Another top demand is play time. Colonel is very skilled at murdering toys, particularly toys on strings and jumps with an atheltic prowness that is remarkable considering he is a Persian. Again, no one told him he is a Persian. He loves extended play sessions, growls and destroys toys with great vigor and will occassionally end a play session by purring excitedly and accepting pets. I do not advise letting your guard down around Colonel for what may again, be a trap for the human enemy, but just sometimes, he seems to forget he is laying a trap and cannot help but turning, just briefly, into a real cuddly Persian. He does seem to enjoy other cats but also could do okay as a solo cat, provided that you have time for enough companionship. His bedtime is promptly at 9pm and he generally enjoys sleeping in the morning but is available for visitors, conversation, and toy murder during the day. Anyone who adopts Colonel should be prepared that he may require a few weeks adjustment time. However, under all his hardened exterior lies an amazing, hilarious, fierce, and perhaps loving cat. It is clear that he has been mistreated in prior placements and has a few scars to prove it but despite his initial distrust of strangers, he is ready to be loved for all his quirks and eccentricites and for the magnificent being he is. Persian experience is preferred for adopters but the most important thing is finding the right forever home where Colonel will live out the rest of his years being properly admired and adored. For that reason, please have patience with the adoption process. No out-of-state adoptions are allowed. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and in good general health. ##1306286##
