This is an 1 Canadian Confederation Commemorative sterling silver medallion struck by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1967 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. This medal was awarded to Canadians who went beyond the call of duty and provided valuable service to Canada.
This silver coin features the Canadian Shield with crown and CANADA written beneath. The other side has the words Confederation in (English & French) the dates 1867 & 1967 on top and bottom with the Centennial Maple Leaf in the center.
The Shield of Canada reflects the royal symbols of Great Britain and France (the three royal lions of England, the royal lion of Scotland, the royal fleurs-de-lis of France and the royal Irish harp of Tara. On the bottom portion of the shield is a sprig of three Canadian maple leaves representative of Canadians of all origins.
The medallion is Silver in mint condition and comes with a dark blue leather case with the Canadian coat of arms/crown and the year 1867 & 1967 Canada all engraved in silver. What a great commemorative medal for that special collector. It makes a great gift too.
