This is a very rare POPE JOHN PAUL II Commemorative Coin. This coin commemorates his 1987 visit to the United States. He was the most traveled Pontiff in the history of the Catholic Church and paid his second visit to the United States in 1987, a more-than-week long trip.
The simple yet elegant coin design shows his smile and love for America. On the front of the coin above the Popes head it states ?U.S. VISIT?, below his head it states ?POPE JOHN PAUL II? and on the right side the year ?1987? is stamped. The commemorative coin is polished brass in mint condition.
The reverse features his belief ?UNITY IN THE WORK OF SERVICE?, below it says "BUILDING UP THE BODY OF CHRIST".

Pope John Paul II was born as Karol Jzef Wojty?a 18 May 1920. He was the only Polish Pope, and was the first non-Italian Pope since Dutch Pope Adrian VI in the 1520s. John Paul II has been widely acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century. It is generally agreed that he was instrumental in ending communism in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe.
