( I call it my "magic" camera, because I have created my best images with it. And yes, in my opinion, the camera definitely has something to do with this!)I had this camera serviced by the famous Don Goldberg of DAG CAMERA. So, you can be sure it works properly and smoothly. ( I looked for the "service receipt", but could not find it. So, please, don't ask.)6) Five extra batteries.7) two plastic "eyepiece covers"WHY DID I BUY A LEICA M5 IN THE FIRST PLACE?A few years back, a buddy of mine told me about his amazing LEICA M5. He said I should try one. Like most people, I had never thought of the LEICA M5. However, I did a search on GOOGLE and learned some amazing things about the M5:1) It was the last "fit to finish" LEICA model. (This means parts were individually adjusted for each camera - this is one of the reasons they lost money on each camera. "fit to finish" is a very expensive process.)2) It has a brass top plate and bottom plate. (the later M6 - made in the 80's and 90's -  does not)3) You can see the "shutter speeds" through the viewfinder. (this is an amazing feature)4) The shutter speed dial sticks out from the body, just a bit, making it incredibly easy to adjust shutter speeds while holding camera at eye level.5) The meter is incredibly accurate, and a marvel of engineering!6) It has a "self timer". (later LEICAs DO NOT)7) There is a large, and easy to see, "match needle" metering system in the viewfinder that is far easier to use than the "arrows" and "dot" of the later LEICA M6. ( this is my humble opinion.)8) Some people complain that it is larger than the LEICA M6. ( I agree, but to me, this is actually a "plus". It makes it much easier to hold and operate. IMHO.)9) There is a trend now, to send older M cameras to have the viewfinder windows swapped out for "coated glass" windows. (guess what, the M5 comes with coated glass!)So, I thought I'd give it a shot, and I purchased an M5, and guess what?: I FELL IN LOVE!!
